After graduating in both business administration and law at the University of Geneva and working as an assistant lecturer in finance at the University of Geneva, Martin worked as a junior associate for Baker & McKenzie (in Geneva) and Homburger (in Zurich) and successfully passed the bar in 1992.
He then worked as a lawyer for the international law firm Baker & McKenzie (first as an associate, then as a partner since 1996 and as the managing partner of the Geneva office since 2001), before joining the law firm Bär & Karrer in 2018.
He joined Jacquemoud Stanislas as a partner in March 2026.
Martin works primarily in the area of M&A transactions (acquisitions and divestures of shares – in private and public companies – and businesses, mergers), private equity transactions (assistance to investors, sellers and/or management teams on MBOs, venture capital and/or start-ups), restructurings and corporate law, with a specific expertise in the banking and financial sector. He also regularly assists banks and other players in financing transactions, derivatives and financial products, asset management and regulatory matters.
Martin has been ranked since many years by Chambers, Legal 500 and other directories as one of the leading lawyers in Switzerland in the areas of Corporate/M&A and Banking, and has been recognised in the Legal 500 « Hall of Fame » for having received constant praise by clients for continued excellence for at least seven consecutive years.
Martin has lectured on the legal aspects of M&A transactions at the Universities of Geneva and Fribourg and is also a regular speaker at conferences dealing with corporate law and banking/finance topics, in particular within the AGDA (Association Genevoise de Droit des Affaires), of which he is a committee member since more than 10 years, and FER (Fédération des Entreprises Romandes).
